Why Active Schools Do Better

Posted on 13th September 2017 by Rebecca Page

The ever growing knowledge is helping people to become aware of how being active from a young age can help to create healthy habits for life.

This is helping to get children inspired from a young age which is increasingly important. Statistics show that four in ten adults will be overweight or obese by 2035. This thus enforces the importance to target children whilst they are young, so that they can stay active throughout life.

Factors that decrease the chances of children becoming active is the rise in technology and the growth in fast food options.

These factors can make it hard for children to be inspired to be active, however schools can be a place where all of that is forgotten and you can go back to basics.

Teaching children the importance of leading healthy lifestyles can be so crucial to their development, which they can take throughout their life into adulthood. Becoming aware of how important keeping active is for both physical and mental wellbeing is a key part of learning.

Schools should also take into consideration that not every child will be interested in a specific sport, but should all be engaged and inspired to learn the basics of each sport and excel in their personal favourites.

Children that have active exercise and are inspired to be healthy will excel in their school life. This is because active play helps to increase mental wellbeing as well as helping with school work. This is because it helps children to concentrate as well as pumping more oxygen to the brain making children feel more awake and ready to learn. This helps children to improve on their academic performance.

Steps2sport can help schools and children to become more active, by delivering tailored sports PE lessons as well as breakfast, lunch and after school clubs. We also deliver PPA Cover. Our aim is to engage children of all abilities and inspire them to be active for life. This will benefit your school as children will be more focused and can help them to be academically successful, as well as being happier and healthier.
