PE Activity of the Week - Frogs and Fish

Posted on 1st December 2017 by Rebecca Page

Frogs and Fish is this week’s PE Activity of the Week, which focuses on getting bean bags past the 'river' and on to the other side of the area.

S2S Courses plan, coordinate and prepare fun, energising games for children to participate in during our sports sessions. We like to be as unique as possible and ensure children have fun whilst working hard and learning new skills. Each week we share our favourite ‘PE Activity of the Week’ to give you an insight into our sessions and provide some inspiration for games of your own.

The Object of the Game:

The object of the game is for children to get the flies over the river bank, whilst avoiding the fish.

Skills Acquired:

  • Running
  • Coordination
  • Hopping
  • Jumping

  1. Divide the playing area into 3 zones. 1 in the middle (river), a zone at one side (the burrow) and one the other side (the river bank)
  2. Place a number of beanbags on the river bank. These act as flies
  3. On the river, place cones as lily pads
  4. Divide class into three teams (toads, frogs and fish)
  5. The toads and frogs begin by standing in the burrow, and the fish in the river
  6. The aim of the game is toads and frogs to bring all the flies back to their burrow without being tagged by any fish. Toads can jump, whilst frogs can only hop
  7. If tagged, the players must switch roles
  8. Toads and frogs are safe away from fish when they are on a lily pad or on the river bank
