Healthy Christmas Recipes

Christmas is a time full of joy and fun, and who can forget the fantastic food! However, the Christmas treats can be full of sugar and fat, which isn’t good for the body or children’s health.

We have prepared some easy recipes that you and your child can make during the Christmas period, which taste both yummy and healthy.

Frozen Banana Penguins

Ingredients

  • Peeled Bananas
  • Melted Chocolate
  • Raisins
  • Greaseproof Paper
      1. Melt chocolate by microwaving or placing a bowl over boiling water.
      2. Dip banana in chocolate over half the body, feet and head
      3. Place raisins for feet, eyes and beak
      4. Lay them down on greaseproof paper and chill in the fridge. This will only take a few minutes 

Chocolate Orange Dippers

Ingredients

  • Orange Segments
  • Chocolate
  • Toppings
  • Sprinkles
  • Skewer Sticks
  • Greaseproof Paper
      1. Melt chocolate by microwaving or placing a bowl over boiling water.
      2. Skewer oranges and dip into the melted chocolate
      3. Add toppings! Walnuts, ginger, sprinkles or crushed candy cane are great options
      4. Lay them down on greaseproof paper and chill in the fridge. This will only take a few minutes

Santa Crackers

Ingredients

  • Crackers
  • Sundried Tomatoes
  • Cream Cheese
  • Raisins
  • Cheese Slices
      1. Cut out hat shape from the sundried tomato, and beard from the cheese
      2. Spread cream cheese over the cracker and stick on the hat and beard
      3. Place cream cheese on to cracker to attach raisins for eyes
      4. Add small circle of cheese on hat and for the moustache

Carrot Stars

Ingredients

  • Grated Carrot
  • Water
  • Grated Cheese
  • 2 Eggs
  • 4tbsp Oat Flour
  • Greaseproof Paper
  • Star Cookie Cutter
      1. Pre heat oven to 180C / 350F / Gas 4
      2. Mixed the carrot and water in a bowl, cover and microwave on high for 3 mins
      3. Drain the carrots and then place on a clean cloth and squeeze out the liquid
      4. Place the carrots back in the bowl and mix with the remaining ingredients
      5. Prepare a baking tray with greaseproof paper
      6. Form star shapes of the mixture onto the sheet using a cookie cutter
      7. Bake for approx. 13 mins
